Bossa OBJ-5E Fretless Aquamarine 2002
An absolutely stunning early 2000s Fretless Bossa OBJ5E, in very good condition. Made in Japan.
This is not a modification, it was fretless from the start. The bass naturally has a lot of sustain and sounds fantastic, especially on the rear pickup.
There are some minor dings around the edge of the body, a small ding on the back, along with very minor buckle rash. The pickups have a small amount of wear on thumb edge, there is some string burn on the fretboard but it is very shallow. The hardware is tarnished and the gold plate is fading. However, it is overall very clean.
Weight: 4.1kg
The body is light ash with tsumi inked grain with a 10mm top of high grade quilt maple, finished in a deep aqua burst. It features the Tune preamp (three band EQ), with cut notch and boost, balancer, volume, and slap/normal mode switch. "Real Bossa Design" was a small factory in Osaka Japan. Their basses are/were played by many well known professional Bassists like Nathan Watts, the bassist of Stevie Wonder band, Matt Ramsey, etc. Because of the health problems, luthier Toshio Setozaki closed Bossa factory on 2017 and discontinued production. These basses are now becoming rare and sought after.
