Relation to Current E-II BTL-5

This ESP BTL-STD 5 is a predecessor to the current ESP E‑II BTL‑5 model. Both share the same conceptual lineage as premium 5-string basses from ESP Japan, with versatile active electronics and modern playability.

The current ESP E‑II BTL-5 continues this lineage with the following notable differences:

  • Construction: The E‑II model uses a bolt-on neck rather than neck-through.
  • Hardware Upgrades: E‑II typically ships with Hipshot A-style bridge and premium Gotoh tuners as standard.

Despite these differences, both basses are aimed at professional players. This BTL-STD 5 remains highly regarded for its build quality, tonal range, and character, while the E‑II BTL‑5 reflects ESP’s current production standards and hardware choices.

Condition

Overall condition is Very Good.

  • Neck straight and stable
  • Truss rod functional
  • Electronics fully working
  • Frets in good condition
  • There is a small crack on the fingerboard running approximately from the 11th to the 18th fret. The crack is visually subtle, hardly noticeable to the touch, and does not affect playability, tuning stability, or tone. Close-up photo is in gallery.
