TIN FOIL was used in the very early productions of the historic BumbleBee capacitors only.
The originals from the early 1950s are extremely rare and sought after.
Bumble Bee with the TIN FOIL feature a higher Q-factor which results in a boost of a more narrow frequency band if tone control is turned down. The sound will get a bit more nasal which produces a nice singing mid boost especially on higher gain settings.
NOTE: to keep the Tin-Foil version separate we use a GREY colour ring for tolerance instead of silver as with the alu foil version.
The Jupiter Bumble Bee Paper-In-Oil (PIO) capacitors are handcrafted for TAD by JUPITER CONDENSERS in the USA using authentic materials.
The tin foil version was used in the very early years of Gibson guitars and proper working historic originals are very rare.
classic design - setting a new benchmark:
TAD/Jupiter Bumble Bee condensers are colour code marked 400V for historic reasons but cover a dielectric strength up to 600V which also qualifies them for use in tube amplifiers as stage coupling capacitors.
The improved dielectric strength is a key advantage.
Note:
Humbucker circuitry traditionally is uing .022mfd as tone cap; Single-Coil wiring often uses .047mfd.
The higher the capacity of the tone cap, the more significantly the top end gets tamed. It is quit interesting to experiment a bit to find the perfect match for your guitar and playing style.
